What is toggle switch?

A toggle switch is a type of electrical switch that has a lever or handle that can be moved back and forth to switch a circuit on or off. It is called a "toggle" switch because the lever or handle typically has a small protrusion, called a "toggle", that moves up and down to indicate the switch's position.

Toggle switches can have different numbers of positions, depending on the specific design. The most common toggle switches have two positions: "on" and "off". When the toggle is in the "on" position, the circuit is closed and current can flow through the switch. When the toggle is in the "off" position, the circuit is open and current cannot flow.

Toggle switches can also come in a variety of sizes and shapes, from small switches used on electronic circuits to large switches used in industrial applications. They are known for their simplicity and durability, and are often used in applications where a simple and reliable switch is required. Some examples of applications where toggle switches are commonly used include lighting control, power control, automotive applications, and industrial control.
